Austin – senior shoot

Headed over to Marietta the other night to meet up with Austin. I always love capturing something that is specific to the senior so it was cool when we got out all the lights and had Austin diving off the block. Also enjoyed meeting a lot of his buddies who are all known as “the posse.” Tried to capture just a few shots of all the guys hanging together for their families.

Thankfully the storms held up for us this night and we had some great light towards the end of the day. Thanks Peyton for your patience as I rolled around on my knee scooter since I still couldn’t walk very well – ha.

Dylan – Senior Shoot

Dylan has been a buddy for a few years now and it was great catching up during his shoot – plus, a couple of these frames are some of my new favorite senior portraits.

I have some awesome memories shared with Dylan from playing with sling shots and machetes in Panama on a mission trip to wake boarding and chilling with a bunch of other friends up at his lake house.

Bailey – Senior Shoot

Bailey is hands down one of the funniest people I know. I’ve known her for about 5 years now through the church I used to work at and she makes every trip, hang out, retreat better.

I met Kelli back in January when I shot her sister’s wedding down near Griffin, GA – I loved hanging with her family and was excited when they wanted me to come back down to take her senior pictures.

Let’s be honest, Nathan looks like Superman.

Had a blast hanging out with Nathan and thankfully the storms held off but gave us some great overcast skies. And you can never go wrong when someone also brings along an Audi TT.

Bradley – Senior shoot

These are the kind of senior portrait shoots I love – yeah we will get the normal shots that parents want to see go in the graduation announcement, but I will always be up for shooting what the student enjoys whether it’s mudding, wake boarding, horseback riding, or bungee jumping. (haven’t done that one yet – still waiting)

I’ve known Bradley for a few years now from when I worked for YoungLife – crazy to think he’s a senior already. I had a great time hanging with him and another buddy, Michael, as we took their jeeps off roading for a bit and had time to catch up.

Proud of you Bradley and look forward to staying in touch as you head off to school next year!

Lamar and Jennifer – 4.7.12 – Atlanta, GA

I was in Chicago about to walk in to a store downtown when my phone rang. I answered, Jennifer introduced herself, and I apologized for the loud sounds of the city drowning me out.

As we spent the next 20 minutes talking, we discussed her and Lamar’s wedding but probably spent more time talking about our shared passion of raising awareness about human trafficking. It was then I knew that I would love working with Lamar and Jennifer.

Jennifer has this infectious personality where she just makes you smile and want to enjoy the moment. She is so chill and I felt so inspired creatively because of her trust in me. Plus, the fact that Lamar loves Jennifer so well and makes her laugh so much made documenting their story such an honor and a joy. They are also super cool for not freaking out when I called to inform them that I had ruptured my achilles tendon and would be shooting their wedding in a walking boot.

Thanks Jennifer and Lamar for an incredible day and even more for leveraging your day to fight trafficking in Atlanta as a Love Gives Way couple. Best of luck in everything!

Zach and Emilee – 3.24.12 – Galena, IL

Seeing as though I’m from Illinois, I was totally expecting this to be a winter wedding. Low 30’s at best, at least a foot of snow, and rushing through portraits to let people defrost back inside. Back as most of us experienced the past few months, winter seemed to only make an appearance for a little while and spring was already on the scene. I mean, I’ll never complain if I can shoot a wedding in the 60’s – now if only the state of Georgia would get on board with that thought then we would be set.

Emilee is a long time friend of my wife, Jenica. They grew up together and she stood up in our wedding. While interning in Germany back in college, I remember making a phone call to Jenica while she and Emilee were working their summer landscaping jobs and I asked to talk with Emilee for a second. I said something like this, “So you think you will be cool with standing up in Jenica and I’s wedding?” This was only a little more than 3 months after Jenica and I had started dating. Thankfully, Emilee seemed cool with it and loved the idea of us two together.

Every time Jenica and I would go back home to visit family, Emilee was one of our friends we would meet up with and it was during one of these times that we were able to meet Zach. We went to the local fair and got to hang out with them for the night – it’s then that I saw the joy and love that Emilee and Zach had for each other. Zach and I also just got to hang and talk about the Bears and Cubs – it’s always good talking with someone who suffers along with you as fans of these teams – ha.

Thanks so much Zach and Emilee for having me be part of your day – congrats and wish you guys nothing but the best!
