I was so excited when Elise and Joe reached out to me about shooting their wedding. I’ve known Elise now for awhile as she’s the sister and sister in law of some of our best friends. Plus, some of my family just moved out there which gave us the chance to visit – I’ll have more to share from that part of our trip soon.
We were able to shoot a short engagement session the day before the wedding which also acted as our scouting trip for where wedding portraits and a first look would all take place. Here are a few from that short session. They of course lead off with a shot including the Buffalo since Joe and Elise both went to Colorado University and are huge Buffs fans.
Just like any other wedding photographer I love the beautiful locations, great light, well composed portraits, and all that. However, for me, it’s about the moments. The moments that go by so quickly that if not captured can be quickly forgotten. The moments that make even me begin to choke up. The moments where you have a humbling realization that what you are seeing and what you are capturing will be cherished for a very long time by many people. Joe and Elise’s wedding day provided many of those moments. And the fact that it was also Father’s Day made many of those moments that much more special.
