It’s always an honor when people invite you in to capture one of the most important days and seasons of their life. But when it’s a family you’ve known for over a decade and come to love, the experience is on a whole different level. I’ve known Stephanie since she was in high school and my wife and I were serving with her and a host of other students on a mission trip in Costa Rica. Since then, I’ve been able to capture the weddings of her two older sisters and multiple family sessions. We knew that this day for her and Kurt would come eventually, and I was so excited when they reached out to me about capturing it for them.
While I had seen photos of The Barn at Cottonwood Ranch, driving up to it on the property was a whole different experience. It is massive and stunning but also quiet and peaceful. I haven’t been to many venues like it and I knew it was going to provide an incredible backdrop for Stephanie and Kurt’s wedding day. Plus, the clouds started to break and we had some incredible light throughout the day for portraits.
